I’m often asked, “How do we get started working together?”
Of course, depending on where a small business owner is in their development, the answer will be different. What I have noticed is that often, the business owner will benefit from having someone simply sit down with her to review all of her platforms, pointing out the ‘how’, ‘why’, ‘when’ and ‘where’ for each.
I refer to this as putting the foundation under the business owner’s marketing efforts.
Being empowered with knowledge of how it all fits together is the platform for a strong, effective digital presence.
But – Here’s the one thing I know for sure – You simply can not do it all at one time.
That’s why, after our initial meeting, we identify only 2 (3 at the most) top priorities to get started on and master prior to moving forward with any of the other platforms. You can think of these priorities as the support posts on the digital presence structure you’re building.
Here’s how we often get started:
First, schedule a 20-minute complimentary conversation to allow me to become familiar with your business, your personality, your strengths and your goals.
Then, if it looks like we think it’s a good idea, we can move forward:
1.5 Hour Side-by-Side Working Session – “Get To Know Your Digital Platforms”
We will further discuss what your immediate and longer term goals are for your business growth. We will work toward identifying digital strategies you can implement to help you towards achieving those goals.
Initially, this session will be used to dive right into learning more about how you can make sure you are making the best use of the avenues and resources you are already using.
- Your website
- Your #1 message, your ‘secret sauce’ – what makes you different.
- Your communities (networking groups, teams, workshop participants, etc)
- Current database
- Email options
- Current social media platforms (and how they are working out for you)
My goal is to empower you with the knowledge and some strategies for making the best use of the tools already available to you. After that, we can take a look at implementing other avenues to keep you top-of-mind with current and potentially new clients.
This program is priced at $389 and includes:
- Our initial meeting (1.5-2 hrs)
- A detailed written summary of our discussion including:
- Screenshots/website links /other tools to help remember everything we cover
- Details of the top 2-3 priorities we identify during our session
- A follow-up phone call within 2 weeks after our meeting to discuss your progress, any challenges, next steps.
After this initial program, I generally allow my clients to decide how I can best be of value to them. Some choose to work with me side by side once a month for 2 hours to take their platforms to the next level on their own. Others choose to have me take on one or more areas of their marketing efforts (i.e. Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Email Newsletters, etc). Others purchase ‘blocks’ of time so that they can simply call me whenever they need something and they know that I can take care of them. You can generally figure my fee at $79/hour or so, although program or block-booking brings that down a bit.
It has been an honor and a privilege to sit beside some of the most interesting, dedicated, creative, passionate small business owners. I’ve learned so much from them. I am thrilled to be able to share my skills and knowledge with them to help them increase their reach.
